Photography. Cecile Plaisance's evocative photographic career began with a doll. As a young girl inundated with images of beauty, Plaisance started taking photos of the plastic playmate who was a constant fixture in the world of young girls - Barbie. At first, she aimed to make life more lighthearted by creating sweet reminders of childhood innocence. As Plaisance's photography progressed, she linked Barbie to the modern woman juggling daily life while playing with her iconic femininity as a wife, mother, friend, and lover. Women aspire to live fully and intensely multi-faceted lives despite differences in cultures, clothes, and career paths. The artist adds humor to her Barbie character by targeting men who expect sexiness in women amid daily mundanity. Plaisance's childhood idol supports the challenges of women today as they defend their rights, desires, and hard-fought freedom. Cecile Plaisance’s evocative career began with a doll - but not just any doll. The biggest names in fashion, Karl Lagerfeld, Yves St. Laurent, Christian Louboutin, Christian Lacroix and many others had all paid tribute to her. And as a young girl who loved all things beautiful, she included herself on the list by taking photos of the only plastic playmate she admired who was a constant fixture in the world of girls who dressed and undressed her daily - Barbie, of course. She was so successful at it that her early compositions of the icon made stars of her first snapshots. Her goal? To make life more lighthearted (and for some perhaps, more palatable) as a reminder of the innocence of childhood everywhere and a chance to bring those sweet memories back to life.

    Digital mosaic. Signed and limited edition number 4 of 8. Joël Moens is a serial creator. Over the course of his lifetime, he has spawned over fifteen different businesses. Nowadays, and almost schizophrenically, he switches between his businessman’s hat and his artist’s hat at the mere click of a mouse, given that this disciple of the philosophy of action devotes his time to digital art. His artistic 'love at first sight' moment was his discovery of and introduction to photo mosaics. This is a process which renews the ancient technique of mosaic and is testament to the change in status of the image that resulted from the technological revolutions of the end of the twentieth century. The particular works of Joël Moens are made up of scores of feminine curves, that when assembled form a unified whole. The tiny photographic images lend a real sense of depth to the artist’s work, an idea of infinity. They can be read in two ways, depending on whether the viewer is looking at the content or the form. This reflects the ambivalence of his existence where he alternates between his activities as a businessman and his work as an artist.     Photography mounted on Diasec/Mixed Media Anne Valverde (b. 1968) is a Parisian photographer fascinated by urban spaces and the graphism of landscapes. She creates a dreamlike world through the use of her photographs featuring idyllic settings, furthering this effect with calligraphy and light. After digital processing, the high-resolution prints are exclusively developed on silver paper. According to Valverde, she designs her photos to be imaginative springboards: "windows with views." Since 2016, she has worked cross-country on the DREAM ART project with neon set-up in her photographs. Through the medium of neon, she revives the essence of the word "photograph," which translates to "writing with light" in Greek.     For Double Helix, 2021 Roberta Fineberg is inspired by abstract painting. The artist explores the concept of infinite possibilities. Appealing to RF’s desire to alternate between the concrete and the abstract, the artist selects a theme of the eternal feminine, a female swimmer, repeated to affect a modern mandala: A swimmer moves, floats in aqua-marine waters through a kaleidoscopic view. A single image flipped and rotated in 16 quadrants forms a collage on movement, space, time, rhythm, and color.
